Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon productions maintain the conventions of:
   Singing, dancing Choruses.
Period costumes based on ancient Greek vase-paintings.

Performances given outdoors, by daylight.

New English translations, original music and choreography are created for every production.

Plays are performed in a sequence that illuminates the myths they express.

Weekday matinees at noon at low group rates accommodate high school and college students.  We also offer a complimentary one-day seminar for teachers.

In 2000 CGTO became a festival of ancient Greek drama.  In addition to the annual production, CGTO now offers symposia, lectures and film programs.

In 2001 we instituted the practice of touring our productions to universities

In 2005 we added a second, Spring, production -- an "experimental" presentation balancing the strictly traditional Fall shows.

In 2006 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary by presenting a series of original projects throughout the year, including a collaboration with Blackfish Gallery Artists' Collective, CoHo Productions and Readers Theatre Repertory to present MythFest, a month-long interdisciplinary celebration of the myths of many countries.

Our Spring 2006 production, What Mad Pursuit by CGTO Artistic Director Keith Scales, was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards!

Performances are given in a beautiful 600-seat amphitheatre, surrounded by trees and a lake, on the grounds of Reed College.
